Trowbridge, the historic county town of Wiltshire 
Trowbridge, the county town of Wiltshire, lies in the heart of the South West of England approximately 10 miles from Bath. It is the third largest town in Wiltshire, after Salisbury and Chippenham. 
The town's lengthy history is recorded in the museum, which tells the fascinating story of Trowbridge's people and past. 
 
The woollen industry played a crucial part in the town's development and the museum is located in the last woollen mill in Trowbridge, which closed its doors as a mill in 1982. 
 
Situated on the western edge of Salisbury Plain, Trowbridge makes a convenient base for visiting either the north or the south of the county. 
 
The delightful town of Bradford-on-Avon is nearby, and a number of popular attractions are within easy driving distance, including the National Trust village of Lacock and the Kennet & Avon Canal. 
 
Trowbridge also holds a Farmers' Market in the town centre on the fourth Friday of each month.

Corsham Court is a magnificent Elizabethan house dating from 1582 and was acquired by Paul Methuen in 1745 to display the now internationally renowned Methuen collection of 16th and 17th century Italian and Flemish Old Master paintings.

Bowood is the magnificent family home of the Marquis and Marchioness of Lansdowne. Begun c1720, the House was purchased by the 2nd Earl of Shelbourne in 1754 and completed soon afterwards.
